Saudi Arabia has closed the East-West oil pipeline, a crucial alternative route that bypassed the blockade at the Strait of Hormuz, following attacks by Houthi forces. The pipeline links Abqaiq near the Gulf to the Red Sea port of Yanbu and had seen increased use during the Middle East war.
