Uruguay takes over the Mercosur presidency vowing to modernize and open the bloc

Uruguay's President Yamandú Orsi took over the Mercosur pro tempore presidency, aiming to modernize and open the bloc further. He emphasized progress on trade opening following the provisional EU agreement and pledged to produce results beneficial to the bloc's citizens.
