New battery-powered trains will ‘bring faster journeys to north’
The UK government announced the construction of 29 new battery-powered trains to be built at Alstom’s Derby facilities starting in 2028. The project is expected to support 350 local jobs and nearly 6,000 jobs across the UK, aiming to improve rail service speed and reliability in northern England.
