1st direct freight train opens new India-Nepal chapter

India and Nepal inaugurated the first direct commercial container freight train connecting the two countries, enhancing rail connectivity and boosting bilateral trade. This new service reduces transit times and logistics costs, building upon the broad-gauge rail link opened in June 2023. Direct freight movement to Biratnagar is now operational, marking a milestone in India-Nepal trade relations.
